|Vogue Paris Dec 2012|
I haven’t published a playlist for a while on here; probably since last year!? But music is always on my mind, so I thought I’d compile a wee list of the tunes which are floating my boat right now. My taste has always been a mish-mash after surrounding myself with people who have verrrry different tastes and attending a lot of festivals in my teens. Recently, my boyfriend has been trying to hijack my Spotify by sticking German punk bands and Balkan Beat Box in my Ultimate playlist.. so basically, it’s a MESS..
Grab yourself a cuppa, cosy up (preferably in onesie) and get the tunes going!
N.b: Apologies if the page is slow to load!

1. Lana Del Rey – Gods and Monsters (NSFW)
This song (and the new version of the album) is getting me through revision.
2. Ben Howard – Oats in the Water
Ben Howard is just so easy to listen to. Love him.
3. Frightened Rabbit – State Hospital (NSFW)
Had to include some Scottish tunes in here didn’t I? Pretty dark video, this one. But still a great song.
4. Smokey Robinson & The Miracles – The Tracks of My Tears
Oldie but a goodie, which reminds me of driving around with my boyfriend on our break away in October and him singing it to me (he’ll hate me for writing this HA). Keeps popping up on telly (X Factor & BBC4 Motown special) and bringing a smile to my face.
5. Tim Barry – South Hill (NSFW)
This is a weird one for me to include because I’m still not sure what I think of Tim Barry. He supported Frank Turner, who I went to see last month, and everyone was just silently watching him. He’s so full of energy but it’s largely quite depressing and negative energy.. Really captivating story-teller though. If you’re into working class hero figures – this is your man.
6. HAIM – Don’t Save Me
I’ve loved HAIM since the early summer and this is another tune from them. Gets me dancing about thinking of sunny days!
7. Ellie Goulding – Figure 8
I love this. Nice powerful singalong tune from Ellie. Always got a soft spot for her, mainly cause I want her hair!!!
8. V.A.S.T. – Touched
Absolutely epic classic. Hadn’t heard it in a long time, so been blasting it out quite often recently.
9. The Smashing Pumpkins – We Only Come Out At Night
10. Pulp – This is Hardcore (NSFW)
Such a good video and classic track. LOVE.
11. Rae Morris – Grow
Thrown a new one in the mix. Just heard this through Claire and love it so much. Apparently she’s only 19!? Reminds me of Laura Marling purely based on that fact. Kinda ethereal and wonderful.
12. Frank Turner – Must Try Harder
And finally, a simple tune Frank performed when I saw him last. One of the first songs he ever released, and he sheepishly admitted he had to google the lyrics for. Haha. The whole venue watched in quietened awe. Was a lovely interlude to the punky folk madness. If you haven’t gotten into Frank yet, I suggest you have a go! Fantastic songwriter and showman.
