So, Halloween is over (or, atleast officially). It’s November, at last. My birthday month (!) and the month of cosying up with a hot cup of cocoa, drawing those curtains shut and snuggling up under a fluffy blanket. It’s also a month of getting in the mood for the impending Holiday season: the gift planning; getting crafty & taking refuge in the kitchen, away from the drizzle and the brisk winds. Wellies and upturned umbrellas; candles softly burning around the living room, wafting that familiar spiced apple & cinnamon scent. Fairy lights tinkling in windows as families & couples gather round for cuddles & films – it’s time to really make the most of those extra hours indoors.
But what if all that time indoors is making you moody.? I’ve compiled my top 5 ways to rid yourself of the winter blues. These are just some of the things I’ve found around Pinterest, blogs or in my own experience. Enjoy!
1. Silence your sweet tooth with a Devilish Candy Vanilla Milkshake..
The super-lovely Elsie & Emma from A Beautiful Mess (my new favourite read!) came up with these amazingly over-indulgent candy vanilla milkshakes for a gathering with their friends. I really wanna do the same with my pals one boring rainy night! The recipe is available here. Give it a shot and make the most of that (albeit temporary) sugar rush!

2. Invest in some cosy fluffy blankets to drape over your bed & sofa

I’m eyeing up lots of fluffy blankets online at the moment for keeping comfy when studying on a cold evening. This fake (!) fur blanket looks particularly inviting.. mmm! Available here.
3. Warm yourself up with some Mulled Cider
Bonfire night is just around the corner and it’s time to whip out the mulled cider and wine. Personally, I’ve just warmed up my first batch of the year and it really gave me a lovely fuzzy feeling! It’s pretty easy to stick it together. Try out this recipe on BBC Food if you fancy (or just buy a cheeky bottle of ready-made mulled wine and warm it up in a pan!)
4. Kick Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)’s ass!
The dark winter months can cause us to crawl back to bed at every opportunity and hunker down under our duvets. Whilst this is an excellent plan at times (as I encourage in this post, ha!), when it starts to become an everyday occurrence, you might wanna do battle with The SAD Monster! This little beauty is a step in the right direction to waking up feeling happy again. Pick it up here now and say “voila!” to the rubbish mood.

Ever the night-in pro, Gillian gives us her top tips for making the most of a night-in (and agrees with me about blankets being extremely important necessities!)
